We’re in the dynasty dead period, with the crowning of King Jon a few months behind us and the rookie draft still a few months away. Speaking of which: Dillon, if you haven’t gotten the trophy to Jon yet, get on that.
Anyhow, with nothing else going on, it doesn’t seem like a bad time to take a look in the rearview mirror. What are the all-time standings? What trades were made? Which rookie picks haven’t panned out?
1. All-time standings
Two years in, here’s where things stand overall. Dillon holds the top record by two wins over Jon, and Dillon has the most Points For by over 500 points. Unsurprisingly, Dillon also has 5 of the top 10 weekly high scores, followed by Alfonso with 2. The highest weekly score ever recorded came in the very first week of the league’s existence (184.58 by Dillon) and hasn’t been surpassed.
2. Trades!
This past season, we had 24 trades completed, and everyone made at least one. Here are some highlights:
Eddie traded Jonathan Taylor and a 2023 2nd to Alfonso for Deshaun Watson
Eric traded a 2023 1st and 4th to Rob for Dalvin Cook
Alex traded Austin Hooper, Tee Higgins, Trevor Lawrence, and Tyrion Davis-Price to Logan for Mitch Trubisky, Kenny Pickett, CEH, and Travis ETN
Carl traded Garrett Wilson to Eric for Jerry Jeudy, a 2023 2nd+3rd, and a 2024 2nd
3. 2022 Rookie Picks: Booms and Busts
While the 2023 rookie draft is on the horizon, it might be beneficial to take a look back at the 2022 rookie draft. Who, at this point, looks like the best and worst value in each round?
Round 1: Best value: Garrett Wilson (Carl Eric); Worst value: Skyy Moore (Jack)
Round 2: Best value: Dameon Pierce (Alfonso); Worst Value: Justyn Ross (Sooch)
Round 3: Best values: Greg Dulcich (Carl), Brian Robinson (Logan Eric); Worst values: Keontay Ingram (Jon), Matt Corral (Liam)
Round 4: Best value: Isaih Pacheco (Dillon); Honorable non-rookie mention: Geno Smith (Alfonso)
4. The Age Cliff
Dillon has the oldest team (weighted by player value) by over a year, followed by Alfonso, Jon, and Eric. Rob has the youngest team, followed closely by Carl and me.
5. 2023 Rookie Picks
Rob and I are tied for the most rookie picks, but Rob has the most 1st round picks in 2023. The reigning champion, Jon has the fewest number of picks, holding only a single 4th rounder.
Below are the current top 12 2023 rookies according to the crowdsourcing site KeepTradeCut.com. In contrast to last year, there will likely be a nice pool (~4) of Rookie QBs in the first round of rookie drafts, along with stronger RB+TE groups and a weaker WR group.
6. Wrapping up
Thanks for checking this out. If there are any changes you’d like to see considered for future seasons (pay-out structure, # of flex spot, tight end premium scoring, whatever) shoot me or Liam a message.
